Na’ilah Ali is a second-year master’s student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her bachelor’s degree in violin performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Beginning with violin at age 8, she had an early interest in playing all kinds of music which led her to pursue flute, baroque violin, and electric violin. As a young student, she traveled with her school orchestra, performing at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Boston, MA, New Orleans, LA, Michigan City, IN, and even in Montreal, Canada. Na’ilah’s favorite genres of music are funk, progressive rock, and baroque classical music. Today, she enjoys composing and arranging music for electric string ensembles as well as singing.
